For Matt Youmans, the words "thank you" can't express his gratitude, no matter how many times he repeats them.

"I quickly realized that the words 'thank you' just weren't big enough," Youmans said, referring to the fundraising efforts over the past two weeks on his behalf. "I cry. I pray. And I want to say 'thank you,' and they all say 'Stop.' "

Youmans, a Scottsdale bartender, is battling mucinous adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the appendix.

He thought he beat it once nearly five years ago, but it returned in mid-July.

More than 65 hotels, bars and restaurants have joined to raise money for Youmans, who has no medical insurance.
