Authorities had been watching Eric Bradwell for more than a week

From 14 years old to the time he died, Florida authorities nipped at the heels of Eric Terrell Bradwell.

With a criminal record that included a gamut of crimes, Bradwell's history of thieving kept him in the revolving door of state jails, a lifestyle that ended abruptly Tuesday morning when five Polk County deputies shot him to death.

The 29-year-old Lakeland man died shortly after midnight, a pair of mechanic gloves in his hand and two screwdrivers and a wrench in his pockets.
