The Ledger

Wedged between broad shoulders and long arms, the violin made Lemay Olano-James look like a giant.

Still, the towering 32-year-old Cuban-American made it sing, easing his way through the music with a deft sliding of his bow and passion in his face.

Olano-James attended his final rehearsal with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra earlier this week, in preparation for tonight's opening of the annual Lakeland Hispanic Festival. Previously a member of the Cuban National Orchestra, Olano-James will take a center role in the opening-night concert downtown at Munn Park, with a solo role to show his prowess with the violin.
