The sound of a gunshot brought Jennifer Ford to her window Sunday night.

Peering out, she said she saw the body of a police officer slumped on the ground near the playground set in Crystal Grove Park. Then she turned to her two children.

"Get down!" she ordered.

The next morning, as sunshine washed over the Crystal Grove neighborhood, Ford congregated with her neighbors in the lawn of their apartment complex. She shook her head as she recalled the previous night and the fear she felt for her children.

"You don't ever know," Ford recalled, shaking her head. "A bullet ain't got no name."
