The principal of Kathleen High School on Friday defended his administration's handling of a head football coach accused of twisting and bruising a senior football player's nipple.

Principal Cecil McClellan Jr. said school administrators took the matter through proper channels once Devarus Robinson, 19, of Lakeland, reported that coach Irving Strickland pinched his chest twice in September as a method of discipline.

"As a school, we don't tolerate the mistreatment of any child," McClellan said. "Anything that is reported to our office we investigate."
