Irene sat cross-legged in a storefront entryway, a bald alien with a makeshift martini.

Behind the extraterrestrial mannequin, the store stretched 3,000 square feet, ceiling and walls festooned with old-time cameras and retro globes.

From behind the cash register, a 49-year-old woman with a soft face and thick blonde hair sat in dim lighting, keeping a pursed-lip smile to herself. This vintage shop, 360 Unlimited at 911 S. Florida Ave., had been Kristin Lamonte's unlikely dream for years. In 2008, she decided to spring for it.
